Our Story

Florence Country Club was founded in 1924.  While the architect is unknown, the 18-hole course was built in the "Donald Ross" style, using the natural contours of the small 77-acre site.  The club has had a very rich history of golf, tennis and social activities for 94 years.  

Florence Country Club has hosted many top amateur and professional golf tournaments over the years, two USGA Championships have been conducted here, the 1955 Girls Junior Championship and the 1963 Junior Amateur Championship.  The Grant Bennett Junior Invitational, first conducted in 1951, continues to be one of the top regional junior golf tournaments today.  FCC has hosted the PGA Tour Qualifying School 12 times and is a popular venue for the participants with several currant tour players having qualified here.  Eight members of the South Carolina Golf Hall of Fame have ties with Florence Country Club, including Buddy Baker, the 1958 USGA Junior Amateur Champion.

Our Tennis program is one of the top programs in the state producing numerous top ranked players over the years.  FCC has been the site of the Southern Top 16 Tennis Tournament for 10 years and has been the host for the Pepsi Junior Tennis Tournament for over 40 years.
